Note: This filter is located in the vacuum line connected to the Turbo Boost (MAP) Sensor.

Why it matters:

Toyota uses these MAP Sensor Filters to prevent oil and carbon from entering the MAP Sensor.

Common issues:

These plastic filters can crack or get blocked over time due to age or boost pressure. If this happens, the MAP Sensor can’t accurately read boost levels, which affects fuel delivery—leading to a noticeable loss in power and torque.

Important for CRD engines with VNT turbos:

In Common Rail Diesel engines with Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT) turbos, any leak or blockage in the line from the intake manifold to the MAP Sensor can be serious. If the ECU can’t read boost pressure correctly, it may close the turbo vanes too much—potentially causing major damage to the turbo or engine.
